Botox VS. Filler – What’s the Difference & Which is Right for You?

Botox and dermal fillers. Both are a great introduction to your skin rejuvenation process. But what are they exactly? And which one is right for you? Both treatments are minimally invasive and provide a youthful appearance, and have no downtime!

Each treatment is designed and personalized to fit your exact needs and provide solutions to your specific skin concerns. Whether that be stubborn wrinkle lines, shallow cheekbones, or thin lips, there is a treatment perfect for you.

Botox and fillers may be similar, but they work differently on achieving a younger look. They also differ in the areas that they treat.

So how do you decide which is right for you?

BOTOX

Botox is a purified toxin, short for Botulinum toxin. It is most commonly used for forehead lines, crows feet lines, and glabellar lines. Botox injections aim to relax the muscles of the concerned area, restricting the muscles from moving into wrinkle lines, reducing the appearance of dynamic wrinkles.

Results reach their full potential at 2 weeks after treatment, with results lasting up until 4 months after procedure.

Every patient is different and the amount of units they need for treatment will be different than what their friend might need. That is why it is important for your injector to personalize the treatment so it is right for you and what your skin needs.

FILLERS

Dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid and similar substances to ‘fill in’ or plump up areas that have lost volume and/or smoothness. Lips and cheekbones are common areas that filler will treat. Injections in your cheekbones will raise the volume of the area around and above your cheekbones. By injecting volume into your skin layer, cheek filler can also smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.

Similar to Botox, how much filler you need and what type of filler is best depends on the evaluation of your skin, and where you want the best results.

Fillers typically last longer than Botox injections. Some fillers can last up to 2 years depending on type of filler and the area treated.

Botox and dermal fillers can not be used interchangeably but they can be used together to enhance a younger look.

Conclusion

No matter what treatment you choose, it is important to find an injector who makes you feel comfortable and at ease. Since each treatment is totally dependent on what you need, finding the right medspa and the right injector is crucial. At Luxura Modern Aesthetics we will curate a skin care and maintenance plan designed specifically for you and your needs.
