WHAT IS IT?
The P-Shot, also known as the Priapus Shot, is a procedure that involves injecting platelet-rich plasma (PRP) into the penis to improve blood flow, sexual function and enhance the size and appearance of the penis. The procedure is named after Priapus, the Greek god of fertility and masculinity.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Benefits of PRP were initially limited to dentistry and sports injuries, but have evolved to address aesthetic concerns and sexual dysfunction. PRP is one of the most effective natural treatments for cellular repair and rejuvenation. In particular, benefits of the the P- Shot include but are not limited to:
- Stronger, firmer erections
- Easier to achieve and maintain erections (i.e., improved sexual stamina)
- Increased penile length and girth
- Improvement in or resolution of penile curvature from Peyronie’s Disease
- Resolution of penile pain with erection
- Increased sensitivity in the penis
- Better overall blood flow to the penis
WHAT IS THE PROCESS?
Your visit for the P shot should take no more than 60 minutes. Steps to the P Shot may include:
For the PRP P Shot, patients will have blood drawn from their arm. This will feel just like routine lab work done for your physical. The blood is then processed in a centrifuge that will spin your blood at a very high-velocity to separate the plasma from the red blood cells.
Next, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the penis to ensure your comfortable and pain-free experience. After the plasma has been isolated in a syringe, the platelets will be injected into your penis with a fine needle.
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS?
Since PRP is extracted from your own blood, there are usually only minor side effects. These include pain of discomfort at the injection site or minor swelling/bruising at the injection site. Most men can resume their normal day-to-day activities immediately after the appointment.
HOW LONG DOES THE P-SHOT LAST?
Some men have reported benefits in as little as 24 hours, but most will feel the full effect of the P-Shot after several weeks. The nice thing about the P-Shot is the fact that results gradually improve over time, but generally peak about 3-4 months after the initial treatment. This is usually when the tissue regrowth and correction from the P-Shot will be complete. The best thing about this treatment is that the results can last anywhere between 12 to 18 months at a time, but again vary from person to person.
