Attention: Retinol vs Retinoid – What’s the Difference?

You may have heard about retinoids and wondered if they were right for you. But what exactly is a retinoid, and how does it compare to retinol? We’re here to help clear up any confusion so you can make an informed decision.

A lot of people think that “retinoic acid” or “retinoic acid derivatives” are just fancy names for vitamin A, but there are actually some important differences between these ingredients. Vitamin A is not only found in food, but also in your skin cells where it plays a key role in cell growth and differentiation (the process by which one type of cell turns into another). When applied topically as a cream or serum, vitamin A helps stimulate collagen production and reduce signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles. It can also be used to treat acne because it reduces oil production on the skin’s surface while unclogging pores with its anti-inflammatory properties. However, many dermatologists recommend using topical forms of vitamin A at night because they can cause photosensitivity (increased sensitivity to sunlight) when exposed to UV rays during the day. This means that even though your sunscreen may protect your face from sunburns during the day, you could still experience redness after being out in the sun too long! If this sounds scary or inconvenient then you may want to reconsider.

Retinol and retinoids are both used to treat fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, and rough texture. Retinol is a milder form of Vitamin A that works by increasing cell turnover rate to help fade acne scars and reduce the appearance of fine lines. Retinoid is more powerful than retinol because it increases cell turnover at a faster rate which can lead to better results in less time. Both products work best when applied topically twice daily for 8 weeks or longer.

If you’re looking for smoother skin without irritation then we recommend trying our Retinol Cream! This cream contains 1% pure retinaldehyde which has been clinically proven to be as effective as 0.025% tretinoin (Retina-A) but with often fewer side effects like redness and peeling skin associated with other forms of Vitamin A treatment. The result? Smoother brighter skin that looks younger every day!

Retinol is a type of retinoid, but not all retinoids are the same, medical grade skincare often costs just as much as fancy over the counter brand names that simply don’t give you the results your are both looking and paying for.
